About Moira Cornell...

Moira Cornell has been training dogs for over 20 years. She has earned more than 95 titles in a variety of competitive areas such as obedience, agility, conformation and flyball.  She and her dogs have earned several High in Trial and Best of Breed placements.  In 2002 Moira and her Australian Shepherd Tooter won the prestigious Australian Shepherd Club of America (ASCA) National Specialty in obedience with a near-perfect score of 199.5 out of a possible 200!  Most recently in 2007, she and Roxy, a Tooter granddaughter, won the highly-competitive Novice B class with a score of 198 and tied for High in Trial!

Moira employs an innovative, motivational training approach known as Attention Training designed to help students and their canine companions achieve a personal best.  Her positive training methods and creative problem-solving skills have helped her students earn top honors in numerous competitive venues.  Moira's students range in size and personality from the Number One Rat Terrier in UKC to the top Irish Wolfhound in the United States - and everything in between!SpringSummer4wks.bmp (406998 bytes)

Moira believes that competitive training should be started as early as possible.  Under Moira's direction, puppies as young as eight weeks happily participate in basic Novice, Open and Utility-level exercises.  Her vast experience working with a wide range of different breeds allows her to develop a customized training program for each of her students.

Prior to embarking on her career in dog training, Moira successfully trained and showed horses, winning such awards as the Onadarka Medal and the Tri-Valley Hunter Jumper Medal with her thoroughbred, Irish Rebel.

Presently, Moira is actively campaigning three of her Australian Shepherds in obedience, agility and conformation.  In addition to teaching privately, she is an instructor and board member for Valley Hills Obedience Club.

If your shoulders and arms are rigid and your expression stern, your dog will sense that you're angry because he pays more attention to your body than to the words that you say.
