Upcoming Litters

Early socialization is vital in developing an Aussie with a confident, happy attitude. Experience has shown me that this breed finds it very difficult, if not impossible, to overcome a lack of proper early socialization. Because of this, I strongly recommend a Puppy Kindergarten or Puppy Preschool class by the time a puppy is 8-to-12 weeks of age. Aussie's can develop into strong-willed, persistent dogs that will take over your household if you let them. Limits must be set from the beginning, and puppies and dogs must be taught to respect them. Follow Puppy Class with Basic Obedience classes to keep the momentum going. Training deepens the bond between you and your dog, and teaches you to effectively communicate with each other. Consequently, the benefits are both twofold and long-lived. If you plan to show your puppy in the breed ring, early obedience is still extremely important. No matter what anyone may tell you, trust me -- it's O.K. to teach your show puppy to sit! If he's smart enough to sit when you ask him to, he's smart enough to stand when you ask him to! All my young dogs, and the young dogs of many of my students, are taught both basic obedience behaviors and "show" behaviors at the same time, and with great success.
